Stop Staring Pin-Up Contest!

Hello Ladies!
Every year in Long Beach, the magnificent Queen Mary holds its annual Long Beach and Iron Tattoo Festival. (and for non Los Angeles residents, the Queen Mary is a huge ship and is much grander than the Titanic. It looks identical except for the fact that it was built during the mid 1930s and is still afloat in the Long Beach Bay)
The Ink-N-Iron Festival is on June 8th-10th.
But for those beautiful ladies who fancy the vintage and rockabilly fashion of the past should enter the Pin-Up Pageant.
Hosted by a classy clothing line called Stop Staring! They will choose only 12 lucky women that will be in the Pageant.
The actual contest will be held on Sunday June10th, 2012.

Sign-Ups will open January 2^nd and remain open till February 24^th. Late entries will not be considered. Voting will begin February 26th and continue till May 25th to determine the 12 finalists to go on stage. An email notification will be sent out to the 12 finalists only!!

The Ink-N-Iron website have not yet posted any information of which email one should submit their head shots to if they are interested of being part of the contest.

Here are the Rules of the Pageant~

• Absolutely no flashing of anything but a smile while on stage!
• The top 4 winners will receive their prize winnings in cash-day of show
• Each of the 8 Runner-up’s will receive the Ink-N-Iron Pin-Up Pageant Satin/Embroidered sash and a gift bag valued at $200
• Judging will be done by a 3 person panel of industry people
• Pageant is for 18+ year old females

Up Coming Reviews on a Few Gems in Los Angeles

Hello Ladies and Gents,
In the near future I will be doing reviews on a few places that are located in Los Angeles.


With in this dirty city filled with  inspiring artists, business men/women, and broken dreams; moments in time have stood still and only for those who are looking can see.


These fragments of frozen periods can still be visited.; as if someone were in a time machine.


I will be doing a review on the only remaining Silent Movie Theatre left in the United States.

Located at 611 North Fairfax Avenue  Los Angeles, CA.   The Theatre is still used today. You can see your favorite Charlie Chaplin or Harold Lloyd film here! I will also be doing a review on the Golden Gopher.

The Neon lights attract the adventurous crowd of L.A and once inside, the deco of the interior takes you back to the 1930s.

The Golden Gopher is Located at 417 W 8th St Los Angeles, Ca. 

Last but not least. 

Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you a bar that I will be most eager of reviewing.

A bar that has uniquely captured the essence of the Prohibition Era and the Steam punk scene.

This wondrous place is called The Edison.

The Edison is built in the basement of the famous Higgins Building, which is about 100 years old, and it is located in Downtown L.A.

The Edison holds the reputation of a strict dress code, classy entertainment, and old fashion drinks.

Just imagine the big bands of Glenn Miller and Cab Calloway filling the bar with their hot tunes while you taking a sip of your most favorite alcoholic beverage.

Los Angeles is the city of angels and at night you can almost touch the stars.

A jazzy place to dance the Lindy Hop

Attention to all who are seeking for a cheap, fun, and very interesting dance class!

 

In the city of Whitter in Southern California, there is a place where on certain nights they give lessons of how to Lindy Hop.

The dance studio is called Memories at 12901 Philadelphia Street in Uptown Whitter.
The Building was completed in 1887 and was once a Oddfellows lodge up till the 1930's. Now a Banquet Hall it serves many purposes, including a Lindy Hop dance studio.

 Lindy Hop is the original swing dance. During the late 1920's a new and exciting dance was rising from the streets of Harlem during the Harlem Renaissance.
The Lindy Hop consists of very quick steps, at times swinging your partner around, and swiftly twisting and turning while looking graceful.

It is Absolutely insane of how quick these dancers can move their bodies!

At Memories, every Monday night, they hold a Swing/Lindy Hop night from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. for only $3.
Of course kids of 16 years and younger have to be accompanied by an adult but it is for all ages.


For the adventurous souls who want to learn the art form of Lindy Hopping,  Memories give lessons every Monday and Wednesday night. But be sure you sign up at the first Monday of each month.
   It is $45 dollars a month and you can pay as you go.
Extremely cheap compared to other $70 or higher priced swing dancing classes!

On December 5 2011, Memories is having an Open House on Monday night at 8:00 p.m. for new Lindy Hop lessons.
There will be free food, prizes, and live performances.

The new Lindy Hop lessons will start on the same day from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Memories provide beginners classes, intermediate, and advance classes. Just sign up to which one you feel most comfort able with.
